Grissom moves on to the second round with a 2-1 win over James Clemens. Nic Ortega scored the game winner with 1:17 left in regulation time. Jake Rufe made the game-tying goal in the first half.

Grissom will play at Bob Jones Tuesday. Bob Jones won 2-1 against Huntsville, after 8-7 KFTM. Bob Jones missed one and saved two, out of 10 rounds, while HHS saved one and missed one.

Grissom won an exciting game against Huntsville tonight, winning Area 13 in the process. Grissom went up 1-0 about 1:30 into the game, but Huntsville came back to tie it about 8 minutes later. HHS went up 2-1 with 14:40 to go in the first half, but Huntsville gave up a PK which Bowen converted with 5 mins left, putting both teams even at half time. Grissom scored at 27:13 and 26:18 putting us up 4-2. Huntsville was awarded a PK at 16:17 on a questionable (IMO) call, then tied it up at 4-4 with 5:51 to go. Grissom was content to take it to PKs and was successful in that effort. John Wilson Booth stopped the first HHS shot, and made the 5th Grissom kick giving Grissom a 5-4, win. He also made a couple of great saves, so he gets my vote for MVP.

Grissom players from the past came out for the 1st Annual Alumni game this Saturday. Team Latty (Grissom Head Coach 1990-1999) played Team Arndt (Grissom Asst. Coach 1984-present) on a very wet field. Three 30 minute "halves" were played and a good time was had by all. By my count there were ~60 former players including three players from '70s, quite a few from the '80s, and large numbers from the '90s, the 00s, and 2010-2012. Players graduating on even number years were on one team and players graduating on odd years were on the the other, though there were quite a few exceptions. The Grissom Soccer Camp page has been updated for 2013. The page includes links to a trifold brochure, a single page poster, and the 2013 Registration form.
